WELSH LAWN BOWLS CHAMPIONSHIP 2024

Chameleons’ members in Finals of Welsh Lawn Bowls Championships.

Cardiff Chameleons members competed recently in the Welsh Lawn Bowls Finals.  The Pairs final took place at the home of Welsh Lawn Bowls in Llandrindod Wells on the 15th during National Finals Fortnight.  Unfortunately, the afternoon session was postponed due to heavy rain, so the Triples final had to be re-scheduled to Sunday 25th at Llansawel Bowls Club near Britton Ferry.   The Finalists in the Pairs were Robert Parker and Philip Baylis V Alan Beech and Rebecca King.   Going into the last end of a 15-end final Alan Beech and Rebecca King were two shots up, however Philip Baylis saved his best until the last end and put three close bowls in to win the match.   The re-schedule Triples match took place on Sunday 25th at Llansawel and despite the poor weather forecast, the match was completed between the heavy rain showers.   Millie Campbell, James O’Brien and Rebecca King got off to a quick lead over Philip Baylis, Ann Marie Bould and Simon Bould.  Despite Millies triple having a 13-2 lead at the half way stage, the lead was cut to 15-13 going into the last end.  Rebecca King put in two very close bowls at the start of the end which was enough to seal the match by 16 shots to 13. Congratulations to all the competitors taking part in the competition and the Finalists who did us proud. Our Thanks to Welsh Lawn Bowls for inclusion of the Para, Visually Impaired and Intellectual Learning Disabilities in the National Competition Finals.
