LDIBIS 2022

Learning Disability Indoor Bowls International Series held at York and District  – April 24th -26th 2023.

After a very long journey Team Wales arrived at York and District Bowls Club for the Practice Session at 3:00pm.  The Squad seemed to adapt to the green reasonably well, it was almost identical to the length of the Cardiff IBC green, but slightly narrower than the Cardiff rinks.

Day 1  Was a good day for the Welsh L3 team of Gwawr Harries,  Amy Barrett, Sean Thackwray and Jeffrey Pugh, winning all four of their games.  Naomi Baelz played well to win her singles match against Scotland and was narrowly defeated in a thrilling match against the top English bowler.  The two level two teams struggled against very good opposition and failed to gain any points.

Day 2  Again the Welsh L3 team continued to show good form with a win in the Pairs against England and a draw in the Triple’s Match against England.  There was some consolation for the L2 team with a Pairs win for Angus Pirrie and David Williams who both played well to beat the Scottish Pair.

Overall the Welsh Team again finished in Bronze Medal position but showed a lot of potential for the next leg of the International which returns to Falkirk April 22-24th 2024.
